It’s THURSDAY….which means it’s almost FRIDAY….and that means the weekend is almost upon us. Can you tell I’m excited?
This week has been weird. I feel a little off and the pressure seems to be “on”. I know it will pass, but it’s definitely brought out the introvert in me. Hopefully all my friends and co-workers won’t hate me for being so stand-offish this week. 😀
Yesterday, I had a small window to workout and decided to make the most of it. I wrote the workout down and immediately knew it was going to be really tough and I wouldn’t be getting much rest (due to my time constraint). I went into my “mode” and just worked through it. Here’s what I did:
This workout was tough! If you want to try it with some modifications, just leave a comment. 🙂
In other news, I may have mentioned that one of the trainers at my gym is entered into a competition to be Santa Monica’s Best Personal Trainer! We have a competition on October 18th, and I’m one of the people she’s training. We took some video the other day as a sneak-peek of what we’re doing. Video is below!
Well, that’s all I’ve got for today. Stay tuned Friday for the answers to my Ask Me Anything post! There’s still time to get some of your questions in. (And thank you to those that e-mailed me your questions! I’ll be answering those as well! :-))
Woohoo, we’re halfway through the week! It feels good. I don’t know about you guys, but I’m still pretty bummed about the passing of Robin Williams. I was fortunate enough to meet the guy, and he was just as nice and funny as he is in his movies. I don’t usually get this way when a celebrity passes away, but for some reason I think Robin Williams’ death has hit a lot of people much harder than usual.
Circa….2008?
Aside from that, this week has been pretty good. I did a tough workout on Monday and then did a tough leg workout Tuesday. Today I plan on bouldering and maybe just foam rolling. My body is kind of…..toast.
I am heading to Big Bear Lake with my man tomorrow for a few days of relaxation, hiking, and WAKEBOARDING!!! So my fitness will all be outdoors towards the end of the week.
Hope everyone had a fantastic weekend! Mine was pretty low-key, but I think that was much-needed after Friday’s long day.
Friday was the 2nd filming day for the WBBC At-Home Fitness Program! We were in the sun for about 6.5 hours, did 4 workouts, and lots of other speaking footage. It was a ton of fun, but a ton of work, too! If you’re interested in the program, you can click this link to get on our waiting list. 😉
I’m a total doophus and forgot to wear sunscreen.
Ouch.
(Funny story about that “Kiss Me” balloon….it’s from Valentine’s day!! Charlie and I are trying to see how long it will stay inflated. Best.balloon investment.ever, if you ask me.)
The camera man and I have some very funny farmer’s tans going on!
His and Hers Sunburns
I’m not trying to make light of these sunburns. It’s obviously extremely dangerous, but we were just so frazzled in the morning that we both forgot sunscreen. :-/ Live and learn.
Here are some shots from the filming:

Perfect Stretch
Anyways, I’m really excited for this to come out!
After filming and working out in the sun all day, we were STARVING. We found an AWESOME little Hawaiian burger shack nearby called, Shaka Shack Burgers. AMAZING. The sweet potato fries were probably the best I’ve ever heard. SUPER GREASY and DELICIOUS haha. I ordered the Turkey Burger and it was pretty awesome too.
Saturday
Charlie and I always talk about going to pawn shops to see if we can luck out with some smokin’ deals. It’s much more difficult these days since you can find out what everything is worth on the internet. We finally decided that this was the day we would actually go look!
We drove to Hollywood and went to a few different pawn shops. There was definitely some interesting stuff in them, but ultimately, we walked away empty handed. We ALMOST got a really killer deal on a vintage microphone, but alas, it didn’t work. Womp, womp.
We finished around 4:30pm and decided to go to the Arclight to see Neighbors.
This movie definitely had some hilarious moments, but overall, I’d give it a 7. Probably best to wait for it to come out on DVD, which nowadays should be about 2 weeks! Haha. (Remember when you used to have to wait MONTHS AND MONTHS for a movie to come out just for RENTAL….buying it was like a year. Crazy how times have changed.)
We finished off the night by making dinner, baking cookies (YUM) and watching Dexter.
Sunday
I woke up earlier than Charlie and started cleaning the house. Eventually he joined me and then we headed to the gym for a workout. We did the following supersets (weights/reps are mine…Charlie is stronger than me and did more weight plus higher box jumps):
Superset #1:
4 Sets of
-Medicine Ball Thrusters (16 lb ball x 15 reps)
-DB Push Ups w/ Rotation (10 lb DBs x 8 reps)
Superset #2:
4 Sets of
Heavy Deadlifts (139 lbs x 10 reps)
Burpee-Pull Ups (bw x 5 reps)
Superset #3:
2 Sets of
DB Shoulder Press (25lb DBs x 8 reps)
Box Jumps (24 inc. x 10 reps)
Charlie also helped me work on my form for box jumps. I was doing the 24 inch box, which I’ve done many times before, but my form wasn’t great. With the tips he gave me, I’m ready to tackle the tall 30 inch box. Just need to get some cajones, that’s all!
Some fun slo-mo videos of us!
That’s all I’ve got today! I’ll be back tomorrow morning with my workout plans for the week!
Have you ever been to a pawn shop?
Ever found a REALLY cool steal while at a pawn shop?
This week is moving right along! Hope everyone made it through their Monday and is ready for a great Tuesday! I know I am.
Last night, I deviated from what I had planned to do for my workout. Original plan=climb and track workout. Actual=Leg Workout and 20 minutes on the stair mill. Total change right?! My day got busier than I thought it would be, so I knew the track wasn’t going to happen. I did a quick 20 minutes on the stair mill between meetings just to get my body moving and sweating, and then Charlie agreed to meet me for a workout in the evening. My upper body is a bit shot from Friday and Saturday’s workouts, so Leg day it was!
We did:
-4 Sets of Heavy Hip ThrustsÂ
-3 Sets of Burpee-DB Walking Lunge-Burpee combo (5 burpees, 10 DB walking lunges, 5 burpees, 10 DB walking lunges)
-3 Sets of Leg Press superset with Switch Jumps
It was a good one!
Here’s my tentative workout plan for this week!
I’ll be traveling on Thursday afternoon, so the weekend may be a bit sporadic. We shall see!
Tuesday:Â Boxing and Climbing
Wednesday:CrossFit
Thursday: Rest or something light before I travel
Friday:Full Body Workout
Saturday:Rest
Sunday:Full Body Workout
Are you a “stick to the plan” type of person or do you do whatever you feel like/whatever fits?
I tend to be a bit of both. I’ll stray from what type of workout I do and switch that up, but when it comes to the actual workout, if I write down what I’m doing, then I’m not leaving the gym until I’ve completed all sets, exercises, and reps!!
This week has been full of some awesome workouts, so let’s get right to it!
Workout Recap
Monday: I did a 15 minute HIIT on the treadmill. It’s amazing how much 15 minutes can make you sweat and curse. I think they go hand in hand. I also did some bouldering at the rock climbing gym.
I alternated between 6.5 and 9.0 mph on the treadmill and shared my MFTÂ upon completion.
Tuesday:I walked on the treadmill while waiting for Charlie, and then I put us both through some hell
Here’s what we did:Â
3 sets of: Squat/Sled/KB Swing combo (this video is old, but this is what it is:)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lTuCIGFL1qE
3 sets of: 5 Burpee Pull Ups (with full push up and on a very high bar that required a lot of pulling up!!!) super set with 10 Medicine Ball Thrusters (18 lbs)
This workout looked easier on paper than it was. I tend to do that a lot…..
Wednesday:Bouldering. Instead of what I normally do, which is climb hard and take good long breaks, I set out to be there for an hour with minimal breaks. None of my friends could go, so I decided it would be the best use of my time. Damn it was hard! Climbing gives you a pump like nothing else.
Thursday:Boxing. I’m so glad I got back into this. I almost didn’t go because I’ve got a big work project going on, but knew I would feel much better if I did. I was right and left a sweaty, soaking, hot mess. It was glorious.
My plan for today?Crossfit 14.5! I missed 14.4 because I was out of town, so I figure i’ll try this one out. I may have to scale down the thrusters, but we’ll see what happens.
This weekend:Â
Even though I was out of town last weekend, I feel like going out of town again! I love to travel and do little weekend trips, but haven’t been taking them lately. I made it a goal to change that. I’m leaving tonight and still don’t know where I’m going.
Should I go to:Â
1. Santa Barbara
2. Solvang
3. Dana Point
Help me decide! Leave me your choice in the comments, por  favor. 🙂
The title of this post highlights the thoughts in my head yesterday morning. I woke up and decided to get my workout done right away so I could get started on some work and not worry about it. I had a lot of things to do, and knew I needed to get my workout out of the way early. At some point in this conversation in my head (don’t act like you don’t do this!!) I said, “Well, I guess I gotta tabata!” And then I laughed to myself like a dork.
Since I was up in the mountains yesterday, I knew my workout would be done indoors. Totally fine by me! Sometimes my bodyweight-only workouts get me sweating more than the ones at the gym! Not belonging to a gym is NO excuse.
So what is Tabata? Well, it’s debatable. HOWEVER, the widely known version of Tabata in the fitness world goes like this:
3. Typical settings should give you 20 seconds of work, 10 seconds of rest, and 8 cycles. (Of course you can do more of less cycles if you’d like and you can add and subtract time as well, but this is the standard).
4. GET IT!
Here’s what I did. Since each cycle takes exactly 4 minutes, this workout took me just 20 minutes to do. And it kicked my bootayyy! I encourage you to try this! Use these exercises, or any exercises of your choosing!
**Always check with a doctor before starting a new fitness program
Traveling always makes me lose track of the days and times. This weekend, I was in Arizona spending time with my family. I’m here until Tuesday, but I’m feeling like I have no sense of anything! Strange how that is.
Thursday was spent driving, so I took it as a rest day and left it at that. By Friday, I was itching for a workout. I didn’t have much time, so I created my own workout in my dad’s living room.
5 Rounds of:Â
-10 Squats
-5 Push Ups
-10 Jump Squats
-15 V-Ups
-10 Jumping Lunges
Afterwards, I did 3 sets of:
-15 Wide Stance Squats (holding my laptop bag filled with cans of beans as a weight!!)
-10 Burpees
This workout took me about 15 or 20 minutes and was the perfect heart rate boost/sweat sesh. You really can get a great workout ANYWHERE!
On Saturday morning, the boyfriend and I headed to the gym for a workout. We did a mixture of Deadlifts, Pull Ups, Glute Kicks on the Reverse Hyper, and DB Military Press. We finished off with a burner using the sled. It was pretty killer and we were both WIPED afterwards.
Workout Plan for the Week:Â
Monday:Home Workout (Probably similar to what I did Friday)
Tuesday:Full Body Workout at the gym
Wednesday:CrossFit + Rock Climbing
Thursday:Heavy Lift + Boxing
Friday:15 min. HIIT + Rock Climbing
Saturday:CrossFit
Sunday:Hike
This is tentative and likely will fluctuate a little bit, but it’s where I’m starting.
And for your viewing pleasure, some photos from the last few days!

Feeling thankful this weekend for the people in my life. Life is a crazy road and lately it has been testing me, but I’m just taking things one day at a time and making sure I take care of myself. Eating healthy, working out, working hard, and enjoying the moments.
Question of the Day:Â
What are you MOST thankful for?
What are some ways you “slow it down” when you’re feeling overwhelmed?
What a wonderful weekend it has been! As always, I’m excited to start the week and get things done, but I have no complaints about the weekend I had!
Valentine’s Day
My lovely boyfriend surprised me with flowers and a sweet little date night. We went to the beach and watched the sunset and then got some chinese takeout and watched a movie. I got through about 10 minutes of said movie before passing out and sleeping for the next 12 hours. I can’t tell you the last time I slept that much! Clearly, I was exhausted.
Saturday
I got up on Saturday and headed to CrossFit High Voltage in Burbank for the World’s Best Boot Camp Platoon 002’s graduation. I LOVE being a part of this company! The energy was amazing and there was once again, a 100% success rate for everyone in Platoon 002. So inspiring!!
Before their graduation, I got to spend some time in front of the camera demonstrating proper form for push ups and squats. I’m not going to lie, I LOVE being in front of the camera teaching about something I’m so passionate about.
Afterwards, Charlie and I headed to the gym to do this workout:
(We used 18 lb medicine balls, a 24 inch box, and a 16kg kettlebell.)
Hello back!
Charlie!
Sunday
I spent Sunday being pretty lazy, yet also being productive. I grabbed a coffee and got some work done at the gym, and then headed to my boss’s house to get some work done there. I spent the rest of the afternoon just hanging out, getting rid of some old clothes, cleaning, and planning for the week.
I don’t have President’s Day off like everyone else (I don’t really ever get days off it seems!!), so I’ll be out and about working away tomorrow.
Hey friends! Hope your weekend was relaxing and fun! Mine was busy (had to work for 12 hours Saturday), but still a good time!
Fitness
My plan for the week is to squeeze in my exercise Monday-Wednesday, because Thursday-Saturday I will be out of town at The Namm Show. (It’s a music business convention basically). There will be tons of walking. I always want to take a pedometer with me when I go because I swear, we end up walking at least 5 miles a day. It’s craziness, but such a fun time. This will be my 4th year going. I’m stoked! Sunday I have an all day recording session, so that will be out for exercise as well. I may try to grab a run or a gym session at our hotel sometime Friday or Saturday morning, but we’ll see. I may just leave the walkathon as my exercise and come back with a fresh body next Monday. 🙂
Monday: Heavy Lift + Bouldering
Tuesday: 30 minute run
Wednesday: Crossfit + Bouldering
Thursday: Walk-a-thon at NAMM
Friday: Possible gym sesh + Walk 809238432 miles at NAMM
Saturday: Walk even more
Sunday: Sit in a chair all day recording musicians
This week is going to be nuts, but I’m ready!!
Workout
Last night, I went to the gym just as it was closing (perks of working for a gym…after hour training sesh’s!). I made up a quick little workout and it kind of kicked my butt. Since nobody was around, I got all vain and took some video of it, so I’ll post that in a few days too.
