Nap-Face

Well I pounded it out at the gym this morning. Had a great workout, came home and ate some chicken and avocado, sweet potato(haven’t had it in so long, but this weekend i cooked one up and still had the other half) and some much needed asparagus to try to dump some of this water I am holding on to. A little later i made some oats with almond butter and a drizzle of honey, and then I decided I was REALLY TIRED. I called my work and told them I would be coming in tomorrow, instead of today, and I layed on the couch. I literally napped my face off.

I woke up to my phone ringing(3 hours later!). It was a girl I met at the NPC show who does mobile tanning. I had scheduled a phone meeting with her to discuss a discounted rate for all of the girls I pose with if we all use her. Turns out she is the official tanner for the show anyways, so it worked out. She is giving us a GREAT rate, so that will be nice.

I just woke up a little bit ago and am working from home, getting some phone calls in, and e-mails out. I just had a red bell pepper, delish. I love those things I wish they weren’t so expensive.

I have to confess I started buying them at the 99 cent store. I feel kind of weird buying produce at a place like that, but 3 bell peppers for 99 cents?! Can’t beat that. I might start growing weird things out of my body, but I can save a few bucks right?!

Anyways, that is all I’ve got for now. I’m feeling TERRIFIC now that I have napped. I was a grumper earlier. Sleep is a wonderful thing. I’ll check back later. 🙂

Funktional Fitness

My new sponsor is Funktional Fitness. I am so excited about this because not only are they going to sponsor my next to competitions, but I LOVE their gym. I hate that it is about a 25 minutes drive from my house 🙁 I wish that I could just start training there. Totally different workouts than I am used to!! August is starting out pretty nicely 🙂

I am so saddened to read about Jen’s mother this morning. Jen has always been there for me during the tough times, both regarding my brother and also just in general life. Please go show your support for her as well in these difficult times. She is an AMAZING girl who does not deserve this.

Dirty 30

Hello!! Hope everyone is doing well. It’s Friday so that is always a plus! Let’s see…. foot was feeling great today when I woke up!! Very happy about that. A little tight in some places, but it didn’t stop me at all today and I had ZERO pain. Still icing and ibuprofening (yes i know that is not a word 🙂 ) it.I think my workouts day make up for the extra food yesterday. And also could probably get me admitted to Workoutaholics anonymous, but that is another story. Holy cow.

-Began the day with 25 min. on the treadmill.(mix of running/incline walking)
-Met with Dae to do Shoulders and some abs. Not the most intense workout of life, but I have still been taking it easy with my shoulders because of how tight/pained they were a few weeks ago. Still a good workout though.
-Afterwards, I did Em’s cardio workout twice.
I stretched (6 days in a row baby!) and headed home.

Worked for a few hours, and then headed to a new gym called Funktional Fitness.
This gym is a studio with two trainers who train their clients with exactly what it sounds like…functional fitness. It is a boot camp-like gym and the workouts are VERY effective. I will tell you how I came across them later in this post. Today I went there and did the Dirty 30. It was my first time there, and this was a timed workout. Basically you do 30 reps of each exercise as fast as you can…they were:
-Tire jumps(literally jumping up onto a big ass tire and back to the floor..30 times)
-Jumping pull ups
-Kettle bell swings
-Walking Lunges
-Hanging Knee Raises
-Push Presses
-Back Extensions on a Ball
-Wall Ball Throws(Hold a medicine ball and do a deep squat and throw the ball up and into the wall as you come up)
-Burpees(by far the hardest part of all of this)
-Jump Rope

This was definitely the hardest 8.5 minutes of my life. But i did make it to the 2nd place mark on their wall for time!! Not bad for a first timer!

Anyways, the way I came across this gym is also the thing I have been teasing you all with. My GOOD NEWS 🙂

Basically I wrote this gym an e-mail expressing that I would like to promote their gym and in return they would sponsor me in my upcoming competitions. We met on Tuesday and had a very nice talk. Things were looking good, and they scheduled me to come workout today and then to go over some more details. We talked after my dirtiest 30 workout, and are still negotiating. I will know for sure tomorrow, but I am pretty confident that we will work out some type of deal. I can’t tell you how excited I am about this. I used to joke around about being paid to workout, but it is actually happening! 🙂

In other good news:

  • I am going to be featured as Transformation of the Week on Bodybuilding.com (not sure which week yet)
  • My picture is being featured on Fitness Star Network!!

Personal goals are really going great!! Thank you all for the kind words about my brother, it is a struggle, but I will get through it.

Meals for today:

M1: 1c. spinach, 1egg, 1c. egg whites, 4TBSP AB(really gotta slow down with the AB lol)

M2: 4.5 oz. chicken, 1/4 avocado, 2TBSP salsa, 1/2 c. brown rice, 2TBSP AB(agh!)

M3: 3oz. chicken, 1 red bell pepper

M4: Salad made with: mixed greens, 1/2 can no salt added salmon, 1/2 roma tomato, 1/2 TBSP coconut oil, 2TBSP fresh Pico De Gallo

M5: 1c. spinach, 1c. egg whites, asparagus

M6: 3oz. chicken, 1 red bell pepper

Might have another bell pepper or some veggies, but other than that I’m done for the day. I’m exhausted and may go out tonight, but probably just going to relax, ice the foot, and sleep like a baby.(hopefully)

Feeling a little better now. Basically my brother is in rehab and called yesterday saying he didn’t think he needed it and was going to leave (trust me he needs it he was taking as many pills as a cancer patient according to the doc)so that really had me down. On top of that I hurt my foot in boxing. I thought it was fine but as the day wore on it started to tighten up. After ice and ibuprofen, today it was feeling pretty good and I was able to do cardio…going to lay off plyos for the next week probably tho.

Nutrition got the best of me yesterday and unfortunately I am going to have to hand in one of my skinny bones. I seem to remember doing something similar 3 weeks out from my last show..grr..not happy about it but I WILL make up for it. My workouts this week have been beyond balls to the walls and will continue. I already have shoulders and 2 hrs cardio under my belt today and am doing a boot camp-like workout this afternoon at a nerw gym. After that will update u on hopefully great news I’ve been teasing about.

Rant

You are warned.

I feel like everytime things start going really well for me, my mood is brought down by an outside force. I try to ignore it, but it is hard when it is your little brother who you love to death.

I need a prayer. He needs a prayer. I don’t deserve this. My family doesn’t deserve this. I am seriously sick to my stomach.

End of Rant. Don’t worry nobody died or anything, but the spiral is continuuing downward. I am about to lose hope.

Well I definitely must have done something right with my nutrition yesterday, because I woke up STARVING, like stomach growling so loud it woke me up starving. Guess i needed the calories!
