Weekend, Filming, Workouts, Pawn Shops!

Hope everyone had a fantastic weekend! Mine was pretty low-key, but I think that was much-needed after Friday’s long day.

Friday was the 2nd filming day for the WBBC At-Home Fitness Program! We were in the sun for about 6.5 hours, did 4 workouts, and lots of other speaking footage. It was a ton of fun, but a ton of work, too! If you’re interested in the program, you can click this link to get on our waiting list. 😉

I’m a total doophus and forgot to wear sunscreen.

Ouch.

Ouch.

(Funny story about that “Kiss Me” balloon….it’s from Valentine’s day!! Charlie and I are trying to see how long it will stay inflated. Best.balloon investment.ever, if you ask me.)

The camera man and I have some very funny farmer’s tans going on!

His and Hers Sunburns

His and Hers Sunburns

I’m not trying to make light of these sunburns. It’s obviously extremely dangerous, but we were just so frazzled in the morning that we both forgot sunscreen. :-/ Live and learn.

Here are some shots from the filming:

Anyways, I’m really excited for this to come out!

After filming and working out in the sun all day, we were STARVING. We found an AWESOME little Hawaiian burger shack nearby called, Shaka Shack Burgers. AMAZING. The sweet potato fries were probably the best I’ve ever heard. SUPER GREASY and DELICIOUS haha. I ordered the Turkey Burger and it was pretty awesome too.

Saturday

Charlie and I always talk about going to pawn shops to see if we can luck out with some smokin’ deals. It’s much more difficult these days since you can find out what everything is worth on the internet. We finally decided that this was the day we would actually go look!

We drove to Hollywood and went to a few different pawn shops. There was definitely some interesting stuff in them, but ultimately, we walked away empty handed. We ALMOST got a really killer deal on a vintage microphone, but alas, it didn’t work. Womp, womp.

We finished around 4:30pm and decided to go to the Arclight to see Neighbors.

Neighbors_(2013)_PosterThis movie definitely had some hilarious moments, but overall, I’d give it a 7. Probably best to wait for it to come out on DVD, which nowadays should be about 2 weeks! Haha. (Remember when you used to have to wait MONTHS AND MONTHS for a movie to come out just for RENTAL….buying it was like a year. Crazy how times have changed.)

We finished off the night by making dinner, baking cookies (YUM) and watching Dexter.

Sunday

I woke up earlier than Charlie and started cleaning the house. Eventually he joined me and then we headed to the gym for a workout. We did the following supersets (weights/reps are mine…Charlie is stronger than me and did more weight plus higher box jumps):

Superset #1:

4 Sets of

-Medicine Ball Thrusters (16 lb ball x 15 reps)

-DB Push Ups w/ Rotation (10 lb DBs x 8 reps)

Superset #2:

4 Sets of

Heavy Deadlifts (139 lbs x 10 reps)

Burpee-Pull Ups (bw x 5 reps)

Superset #3:

2 Sets of

DB Shoulder Press (25lb DBs x 8 reps)

Box Jumps (24 inc. x 10 reps)

Charlie also helped me work on my form for box jumps. I was doing the 24 inch box, which I’ve done many times before, but my form wasn’t great. With the tips he gave me, I’m ready to tackle the tall 30 inch box. Just need to get some cajones, that’s all!

Some fun slo-mo videos of us!

That’s all I’ve got today! I’ll be back tomorrow morning with my workout plans for the week!

Have you ever been to a pawn shop?

Ever found a REALLY cool steal while at a pawn shop?

Glutton for Fruit!

Hey all!

We all made it through Monday. Yeeeehaw!

I’m headed out to film some workouts for the World’s Best Bootcamp. (FYI Enlistment for Platoon 004 went off this past weekend and it was OFF THE HOOK! Totally awesome).

wbbc 4.26

I get to do 4 workouts today.

Four.

Twenty Minute.

High Intensity.

Workouts.

So, in case you never hear from me again, it was nice knowing you! G’bye!

HA….kidding. I’ll survive. But I may need to be pushed in a wheelchair tomorrow. Just saying. (Is it okay to say that again? I feel like it got really annoying for a while, but maybe it’s been gone long enough that it’s okay now? Yeah?)

My Obsession with Fruit

photo 3-2

I just thought I’d let everyone know that I’m obsessed with fruit. Grapes, grapefruits, anything that starts with grape, apples, strawberries, mango, blueberries, YOU NAME IT. I think that if my only option was to eat fruit for the rest of my life, I’d be a happy girl.

I know there are people out there that tell you not to eat fruit because of the sugar. Blah-dee-frickin-blah. I eat fruit. I ate fruit when I competed. I won’t give it up. SO THERE!

Anyways….I’m kind of just rambling today. Probably because I’m anticipating workout brain already.

Do you guys get workout brain? I do.

If you ask me something during a workout, 9 times out of 10 you will get a blank stare. The kind of stare that makes one wonder if there is anything upstairs. I assure you there is. Just not while I’m working out.

Workout Plan for the Week:

Tuesday (today): 4 HIIT Plyometric Workouts (yikes-a-rama)

Wednesday: DUHH…Rest day. (may do some bouldering if I feel up to it)

Thursday: Boxing (depending on how I feel)

Friday: Crossfit

Saturday: Hike or Lift

Sunday: Rest

As long as I get ample rest this week, I should be good.to.go.

Last but not least, this cute thing walked in the gym yesterday. And I basically stopped a conversation with a client and mauled this little guy. The client forgave me. How could anyone resist this?!

Ali!

Ali!

One of these days, Charlie will finally let me get a puppy. A little pressure never hurt, though, so please go harass him.

That’s all I’ve got for today folks! Time to go get my sweat on! Have a fantastic day!!

Do you love fruit?

What’s your favorite?! Come on tell me, tell me! I want to talk about fruit!

The Weekend Has Arrived!!!

Hello fellow fit fam! It’s Friday!! (As if you didn’t already know….)

Today was a good day of closing out the week and preparing for the weekend. While my weekend is going to be pretty busy, there is a lot to look forward to! More on that in a minute, but first let’s talk about some workouts!!

After being in Kansas for 10 days and not having any weights to lift (save for one day that I was able to go to a gym), I’ve been LOVING being back around the iron. (Both literally and figuratively, as my home gym is Iron Gym). Here is what my week of workouts has looked like:

Monday: 30 minutes of incline walking on the treadmill + bouldering at Rockreation

Tuesday: Heavy Lifting Session (Deadlifts, T-Bar Rows, Chin-Ups) + Metabolic Conditioning (Cable SLDL Row superset with medicine ball thrusters and snatches superset with push – ups)

Wednesday: Hike at the beautiful Temescal Canyon!

mechartemescalThursday: Crossfit

Friday: Heavy Lift (plus some shoulder exercises I threw in for good fun)

So I mentioned a busy weekend. Part of that is the 2nd platoon of The World’s Best Bootcamp – Burbank starting their 6 weeks of camp! I’m so excited to see all of the new faces and cheer them on for their baseline workouts. I remember my Day 1 and how nervous I was! It was such a blast and I can’t wait to be on the other side of that tomorrow. Troopers, get ready to take measurements and see where your starting point is! Get ready for an amazing 6 weeks of camp!!!

boot camp day 3.1

Any weekend plans? Aside from cheering on the bootcampers, tomorrow the Chiefs are in the playoffs! Hoping to catch the 2nd half of the game. 🙂
