Weekend Recap + Progress Pics

It’s March!! My favorite month of the year! Not only because my birthday is this month, but also because it means that spring is coming! We’ve had quite the rough winter here in Santa Monica. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Weekend Recap

I had a great long weekend with my family last week. I was sad to go, but I’ll be back soon! Being able to work remotely definitely has it’s perks. I’m elavilnews to have a job that allows me to travel and still work.

I didn’t take many photos during my trip, but here are a few highlights:

Progress

I’m sure some of you are wondering how my 12 week plan is going, so here’s a little update:

I’m still loving this and it will likely just be what I do from here on out. The flexibility of counting macros is great, and allows me to stay on plan pretty much anywhere. I traveled last week, which is usually a dieting nightmare, but since my plan doesn’t call for specific foods, and rather a macronutrient count, I was still able to stay on track for the most part. I did have some extras here and there, but I planned on that and it isn’t something that is going to stall my progress (at least I hope not).

It isn’t easy every day, and some days it’s tough, but compared to anything I’ve ever done in the past, it’s extremely easy. I’m getting more and more used to it each day and finding it to be easier when I’m able to plan my days ahead of time. Just need to get better about actually doing that. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Here are some photos that I took over the weekend. I’m really happy with the changes I’m seeing in my body!

My shoulders are definitely leaner than when I started this!

1. What is your dream job?

2. Which workout are you most looking forward to this week?

Celebrity Fight Night 2014 + Workouts for the Week

Holy exhaustion. Is it Friday yet?

No, really…is it? Haha! What a weekend!!! Charlie and I headed to Phoenix this past weekend (yes, again) to attend Celebrity Fight Night XX. If you’re unfamiliar with it, you can check out their website. Basically, this is a yearly event that raises money for Muhammad Ali’s Parkinson’s Disease Center. In their 20 years of existence, they have raise over $95 million dollars. $8 million of that was raise this past Saturday night. Such an amazing event and cause!

This year’s attendance included Robert DeNiro, Kenny Rogers, Reba McEntire, Michael Buble and so many more! Michael Buble was definitely my favorite performance of the night, but Robert DeNiro’s speech wasn’t too shabby either.

Isn’t he hands down, the cutest thing alive? I can’t handle it. Sweetest, happiest baby on the planet!!!

A great weekend, for sure, but Monday proved just how much I didn’t work all weekend! Haha. I did a LOT of catching up, but I’m happy to say that I got SO much done, the rest of the week should be a bit more manageable. For Monday’s workout, I did sprints on the treadmill and did 20 minutes on the stairmill. It was about all my brain could handle today.

Here’s what’s on my workout agenda for the week:

Tuesday: Boxing

Wednesday: Climbing & HIIT

Thursday: Full Body Heavy Lift

Friday: Crossfit + Climbing

Saturday: Hike

Sunday: Rest

Of course this is tentative, but it helps me to see it written down to hold myself accountable.

If you could see any band/artist perform, whether they’re dead or alive, who would it be?

Workout Plan – Week of 4/7-4/13

This week is moving right along! Hope everyone made it through their Monday and is ready for a great Tuesday! I know I am.

Last night, I deviated from what I had planned to do for my workout. Original plan=climb and track workout. Actual=Leg Workout and 20 minutes on the stair mill. Total change right?! My day got busier than I thought it would be, so I knew the track wasn’t going to happen. I did a quick 20 minutes on the stair mill between meetings just to get my body moving and sweating, and then Charlie agreed to meet me for a workout in the evening. My upper body is a bit shot from Friday and Saturday’s workouts, so Leg day it was!

We did:

-4 Sets of Heavy Hip Thrustsย

-3 Sets of Burpee-DB Walking Lunge-Burpee combo (5 burpees, 10 DB walking lunges, 5 burpees, 10 DB walking lunges)

-3 Sets of Leg Press superset with Switch Jumps

It was a good one!

Here’s my tentative workout plan for this week!

I’ll be traveling on Thursday afternoon, so the weekend may be a bit sporadic. We shall see!

Tuesday:ย Boxing and Climbing

Wednesday: CrossFit

Thursday: Rest or something light before I travel

Friday: Full Body Workout

Saturday: Rest

Sunday: Full Body Workout

Are you a “stick to the plan” type of person or do you do whatever you feel like/whatever fits?

I tend to be a bit of both. I’ll stray from what type of workout I do and switch that up, but when it comes to the actual workout, if I write down what I’m doing, then I’m not leaving the gym until I’ve completed all sets, exercises, and reps!!

Workout Plans + Progress

Good afternoon!! I hope you all enjoyed my post on squat form.

I wanted to pop in and lay out my workout plans for the week. My right wrist has been bugging me a little bit lately (probably tweaked it while climbing) and my right thumb is now hurting as well. I did a quick bouldering session on Saturday and fell all the way from the top. I was totally fine, but I must have landed on my thumb weird because it hurts now! Boo!! I need to be mindful of that and let that heal, so my workouts for this week are going to have to be creative! (Ummmm no wrist and no thumb? My legs may hate me this week.)

time-to-workout

Monday: WOD + 15 min. HIIT (I am going to probably do an all bodyweight WOD and try to avoid using my hands at all. Yay for having to think outside the box…ha!)

Tuesday: WOD + 30 Minute Run. I didn’t run at ALL last week (oops…I did do a running HIIT, but that was it). Definitely going to change that this week!

Wednesday: 15 min. HIIT + Abs + Heavy Lift. Likely hip thrusts, meldonium-mildronate, pull ups (pending wrist/thumb situation), DB Shoulder Press

Thursday: 30 minute Run

Friday: Climb (hopefully I’ll be feeling good by then, otherwise, I’ll improvise)

Saturday: WOD

Sunday: Rest

This is what I’m thinking, but things do change throughout the week sometimes. I never just skip something altogether (unless it is needed), but do replace things sometimes. It depends on how much time I have, where I am, and how I’m feeling.

Here’s a progress picture for good measure (taken yesterday). Gotta stay on track! As they say, summer bodies are built in the winter!

Questions:

1. What are your fitness plans for the week?

2. How about some exercises I can do that DON’T involve my hands? HA! But seriously…..:-)

Weekly Fitness Plan + Whirlwind Weekend

Whew! I apologize for not posting the last two days, but I had a crazy little weekend followed by a crazy start to my work-week! I’m short on sleep, but hoping to make up for that at least sometime this coming weekend!

This past weekend was my Grandpa’s Memorial. It was a really beautiful celebration of his life. Instead of being a sad, mournful occasion (I mean, of course we were all sad he wasn’t there to celebrate with us!), ย the service was filled with highlights of all of his many talents and accomplishments through his 92 years of life. Can you believe that at the age of 91 when his health started to deteriorate, instead of just stopping his daily routine, he cut down his gym time from 5 days a week to 3 days a week?! At 91 freakin’ years old he still didn’t give up!!! I’m sorry, I just can’t get over how awesome he was. ๐Ÿ˜€

What 6:30am looks like from the sky

After 3 hours of sleep, we were up at 4am on Monday morning to catch a flight back to LA. Monday then turned into an 11 hour work day for me and I somehow managed to also fit in a heavy lifting session, 20 minutes of cardio, and a bouldering session. I’m pretty sure it wasn’t a good idea considering how exhausted I was, but somehow I pulled off a REALLY great lifting session. I PR’d on hip thrusts with 211lbs x 6 reps too. Woohoo for strength! I love lifting heavy!!

Weekly Fitness Plan

Although work has been crazy and I ended up taking Tuesday off from exercise, here is what my week tentatively looks like. I am hoping to get back to doing 3 bouldering sessions per week. It’s just so much fun and so great for an overall body workout.

Monday: Heavy Lift + 20 minutes Incline Walking + Bouldering

Tuesday: Rest

Wednesday: 30 minute run + Crossfit + Bouldering

Thursday: Heavy Lift

Friday: 30 minute run + Bouldering

Saturday: Full Body Conditioning

Sunday: Hike?

A lot of this will all depend on how my body feels. If I’m super sore from Crossfit, my heavy lift will likely get moved to Friday and I’ll do something a little lighter on the body Thursday. Just have to see how things go!
