Full Body Attack Workout + Video!

It’s THURSDAY….which means it’s almost FRIDAY….and that means the weekend is almost upon us. Can you tell I’m excited?

This week has been weird. I feel a little off and the pressure seems to be “on”. I know it will pass, but it’s definitely brought out the introvert in me. Hopefully all my friends and co-workers won’t hate me for being so stand-offish this week. 😀

Yesterday, I had a small window to workout and decided to make the most of it. I wrote the workout down and immediately knew it was going to be really tough and I wouldn’t be getting much rest (due to my time constraint). I went into my “mode” and just worked through it. Here’s what I did:

This workout was tough! If you want to try it with some modifications, just leave a comment. 🙂

In other news, I may have mentioned that one of the trainers at my gym is entered into a competition to be Santa Monica’s Best Personal Trainer! We have a competition on October 18th, and I’m one of the people she’s training. We took some video the other day as a sneak-peek of what we’re doing. Video is below!

Well, that’s all I’ve got for today. Stay tuned Friday for the answers to my Ask Me Anything post! There’s still time to get some of your questions in. (And thank you to those that e-mailed me your questions! I’ll be answering those as well! :-))

Ramblings, Workouts, and EXPLODING KOMBUCHA!

Wowza! What a day.

This morning, I woke up at 5am wide eyed and bushy tailed. Okay, maybe not like that, but I definitely was awake and there wasn’t a chance of falling back asleep. That doesn’t usually happen to me, but it was a good day for that to be the case. I had a ton of work to do and ended up knocking most of it out before noon! Woohoo! Might have to do that more often. (or maybe not…)

Okay, I don’t know if this happens to anyone else, but I seem to have a Kombucha problem. This is my all time favorite flavor,

S_Trilogy

But EVERY time I open a Kombucha, it explodes everywhere and I spend the first 10 minutes cleaning up and waiting for it to stop fizzing.

WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?! I see others grab their Kombucha and open it gracefully without a drop spilled…..why am I Kombucha cursed??? (seriously….any ideas?? lol)

Workouts

I did a very different leg workout than I’m used to yesterday and I’m pretty sore from it. I’ve been focusing on heavy weights, low reps for the last few months and decided to completely change it up yesterday. I did high reps, lower weight, and circuit style. It was a fun way to change it up. Here are some of the exercises I did:

KB Goblet Squats w/ Explosive Rotation (yep, I’ll do a video for that one!)

Lying Hamstring Curls

Straight Leg Deadlifts (feet together)

Sumo Squats

Side Lunge/Jump Side Lunge combo

I definitely felt this one and it worked up a good sweat.

Tonight I’m heading to Iron Boxing again. I’m a bit sore from my leg day yesterday, so it could get interesting! I’m also curious to see how my less-than-stellar night of sleep will affect things. Oh well…I’ve got a fun weekend coming up, so I’m sure I’ll have some time to relax!

The Weekend

Tomorrow, Charlie and I are heading to Phoenix to hang with my little brother for his birthday. I’m excited to see him and the rest of the fam. Especially my cute ever-growing nephew. He melts my heart and cracks me up!

Seriously?! Look at him!!!
<3

Questions of the Day:

Do you have any tips for NON-EXPLODING KOMBUCHA?

Do you prefer to do low weight, high reps OR high weight, low reps when you’re working out?

Workouts for the Week + BIG BEAR!

Woohoo, we’re halfway through the week! It feels good. I don’t know about you guys, but I’m still pretty bummed about the passing of Robin Williams. I was fortunate enough to meet the guy, and he was just as nice and funny as he is in his movies. I don’t usually get this way when a celebrity passes away, but for some reason I think Robin Williams’ death has hit a lot of people much harder than usual.

Circa....2008?

Circa….2008?

Aside from that, this week has been pretty good. I did a tough workout on Monday and then did a tough leg workout Tuesday. Today I plan on bouldering and maybe just foam rolling. My body is kind of…..toast.

I am heading to Big Bear Lake with my man tomorrow for a few days of relaxation, hiking, and WAKEBOARDING!!! So my fitness will all be outdoors towards the end of the week.

Here’s my week:

Monday: Shoulders & Chest + KB Burpees (video below)

Tuesday: Legs & Plyos (Squats, Squat Jumps, Walking Lunges, KB Goblet Squats w/ Rotation, Jumping Lunges)

Wednesday: Bouldering + Foam Roll & Stretch

Thursday: Hiking in Big Bear

Friday: WAKEBOARDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (my favorite thing on the planet if you couldn’t tell)

Hope everyone has a great rest of the week! I’ll be back next week with some photos, recipes, and more workouts!!

Muscles, Flexing, and a Kettle Bell Workout!

Good morning! Happy Thursday!

This week has FLOWN by. Anyone else feel that way? I swear, it was just Monday!

Workouts this week have left me pretty sore. I’m taking a much-needed rest day today! Here’s what my week has looked like:

Sunday: Legs!!! (and oh, did this workout make me sore)

Monday: 20 min. HIIT & Shoulders/Triceps

Tuesday: Back & Biceps + 20 minutes on the treadmill (to literally try to shake the sedative-meds out of my legs)

Wednesday: Full Body w/ a focus on Chest (below)

On another note, I read this article yesterday and immediately shared it. This is so, so, so spot on. I urge you all to read this and take notes. My favorite quote in the article:

“Like Herbalife, Isagenix may be an effective weight loss tool. So is anorexia. Doesn’t mean I think it’s a good idea.”

Finally, I’ll leave you with this. Lifting weights doesn’t mean you’re going to walk around looking like the hulk. You’re only going to look like the hulk when you have seriously developed muscle (read: years of development) AND flex those seriously developed muscles. And even then, you still may not! I’ve been training for 7 years STRAIGHT and this is how “bulky” heavy lifting has made me:

(On a side note, back in 2008, before I had any “real” muscle, I would put photos of women with really awesome shoulders on my bathroom mirror. I looked at my own photo last night and realized…..I have those awesome shoulders that I always envied!! Cool!!)

P.S. Don’t judge my dirty mirrors. #okthanks.

Have a great rest of your day folks!

Question of the day:

1. Be honest, are you afraid to lift heavy weights?

Lovely Sunday

After a few days of a lot of work and long days, I’m finally relaxing today. It feels so good! I’ve had a great few days, but I’m exhausted.

On Friday, I attended/worked an all day seminar. I got a LOT out of it, but it made for a long day. I was out of bed by 5am Friday, and we didn’t get done until about 6:30pm. I had also agreed to babysit my boss’s kids Friday night, so I didn’t get home until about 1:30am.

This would have been fine, had I not had to get up at 6am on Saturday!! All for good reason though. Yesterday was the launch of The World’s Best Bridal camp as well as the enlistment for The World’s Best Bootcamp Platoon 004!! A fun day, indeed.

After I finished, although I’d only gotten in about 7 hours of sleep total between two nights, I needed a workout. Mentally needed it. Here’s what I did:

Saturday Workout

3 Rounds of:
5 Pull Ups
10 Push Ups
15 Squats

5 Rounds of:
8 KB Snatch (per side)
8 KB Cleans (per side)
8 KB Front Squats (per side)
8 KB Swings

It worked me for sure. And I proceeded to nap for FOUR HOURS. I felt like a new woman afterwards.

Once I was up and got my life back together, I headed to the studio to hang with my man while he recorded drums for a client.

As for today, I have no real plans except for good coffee and some relaxation. I may sneak in a workout, but I’m not pressuring myself. I have to film 4 full workouts on Tuesday (more on that later), so I may rest up a bit.

Hope you’re all having a FAB Sunday!!

Question of the day:
-Do you like naps? Hate them?

I go back and forth. Love them when they’re REALLY necessary (like Saturday) but for the most part, I feel like I should/would rather be doing something else.

Friday Fun!

Happy Friday everyone!

I’m so excited for this weekend to just relax and not have any plans! The last few weekends have been fun, but busy. I’m ready to just chill out and do what I feel like doing at that moment. Maybe some paddleboarding, hiking, or a picnic!

Let’s recap some workouts from the week!

On Wednesday, my friend grabbed me and asked me to join her workout. I had some time to spare, so I jumped right in. The programming here was minimal reps, for maximum strength. The rep scheme for that was six sets of 1,2,3,1,2,3 reps. We chose 5 different exercises to do this with and in between every single set, we did 10 KB Swings.

-KB Clean and Press (12kg)

-RDL (155lbs)

-Lateral Lunge w/ KB (8kg)

-Chin Ups (bodyweight)

-KB Windmills (8kg)

It was a tough workout and took us almost 90 minutes! But…300 KETTLE BELL SWINGS LATER…we were done. I used a 20kg KB for the swings.

I was so exhausted from the workout that I actually ended up taking a nap from about 7-8:39pm. I got up for a bit and then was OUT.

Thursday, I took a boxing class. I LOVE boxing. Hitting the mits and hearing that “crack” is soooo much fun. The class is held in the basement of our gym, so it gets HOT. I always leave completely soaked. It’s like Hot Boxing haha.

Today, I’m planning on taking a Crossfit class. I’m too scared to look at the WOD because I might chicken out. Guess I’ll see what it is when I get there! 😀

What are your plans for the weekend?

What was your FAVORITE workout of the week?

Workout Weekend!

What a wonderful weekend it has been! As always, I’m excited to start the week and get things done, but I have no complaints about the weekend I had!

Valentine’s Day

My lovely boyfriend surprised me with flowers and a sweet little date night. We went to the beach and watched the sunset and then got some chinese takeout and watched a movie. I got through about 10 minutes of said movie before passing out and sleeping for the next 12 hours. I can’t tell you the last time I slept that much! Clearly, I was exhausted.

Saturday

I got up on Saturday and headed to CrossFit High Voltage in Burbank for the World’s Best Boot Camp Platoon 002’s graduation. I LOVE being a part of this company! The energy was amazing and there was once again, a 100% success rate for everyone in Platoon 002. So inspiring!!

Before their graduation, I got to spend some time in front of the camera demonstrating proper form for push ups and squats. I’m not going to lie, I LOVE being in front of the camera teaching about something I’m so passionate about.

Afterwards, Charlie and I headed to the gym to do this workout:

workout 2.15.14

(We used 18 lb medicine balls, a 24 inch box, and a 16kg kettlebell.)

Hello back!

Hello back!

Charlie!

Charlie!

Sunday

I spent Sunday being pretty lazy, yet also being productive. I grabbed a coffee and got some work done at the gym, and then headed to my boss’s house to get some work done there. I spent the rest of the afternoon just hanging out, getting rid of some old clothes, cleaning, and planning for the week.

I don’t have President’s Day off like everyone else (I don’t really ever get days off it seems!!), so I’ll be out and about working away tomorrow.

Do you have President’s Day off?

If so, what are you doing? Make me jealous! 😉
