Day in the Life III

Happy Wednesday peeps!

I can’t believe it’s already Wednesday? When did that happen? Or the fact that it’s June??

Annnnyways, the days seem to be flying by and I realized I hadn’t done a Day in the Life post in a while.

I made notes in my phone all day Monday so I could share what a typical day looks like for me lately:

5:45am: Alarm goes off

IMG_8429

6:00am: Get out of bed, start the coffee, start getting ready.

6:34am: Gather my things and head to my personal training client’s house.

6:45am: I see this and can’t help but laugh. Someone really loves Jesus (not that there’s anything wrong with that, but the sticker overload cracked me up!)

IMG_8413

6:58am: Arrive at my client’s house and we go walk on the beach and do some exercises. The view is awesome!

IMG_8329

8:04am: Leave client’s house and head to the gym for a workout

8:16am: Arrive at the gym, set up my equipment and GO

9:01am: DONE, I grab a coffee and head home. (yup, that’s two coffees before 9am)

9:30am: Google Hangout meeting with my team

10:00am: Make some breakfast (I made a Chia Seed Protein Pancake and a banana) and start work, work, working away while I eat it.

11:45am: Quick Phone Meeting

12:06pm: I take Oscar to the park by my house for 15 minutes so he calms down.

12:24pm: I’m starving, so I run to Whole Foods on the way home to get in on some hot bar action. I get steamed kabocha squash, skirt steak, bell peppers, and a kombucha of course.

12:35pm: I head to the gym to work in the office. (sometimes I need to get OUT of the house to get work done and other times I need to be AT my house to get work done).

12:42pm: I get to the gym, open my laptop, and continue on with the work train. I brought Oscar with me today because I felt bad leaving him at home (dog mom guilt). He hangs out under the desk while I work.

IMG_8418

2:00pm: I take a break to train a client and take Oscar for a quick walk .

3:00pm: Back in the office and back to work. I send a bunch of emails, work on putting together a big project I’m working on, and update our social media page.

4:11pm: Oscar is tired of the gym, so back home we go to get more work done!

4:26pm: We arrive back at home, I open up my laptop again and….you guessed it…continue working! Someone is tired from the long work day and takes a nap behind me. 🙂IMG_8420

5:40pm: I’m hungry. I send a few more e-mails and whip up a quick dinner of chicken with BBQ sauce, broiled green beans and ketchup, and another kombucha. #no-breastcancer

It's kombucha o'clock!! My favorite time of day.

6:18pm: I start writing this blog post, send a few more work emails, and turn on FBI Files (it’s on Netflix. If you like Forensic Files, you will like this).

fbifiles

7:33pm: I write another FitLizzio blog post, and finish up an article for another client.

8:15pm: I consider going to bed, but can’t seem to stop watching FBI Files, so I start browsing Facebook and mindlessly surf the interwebs.

9:45pm: I finally decide to get in bed. I grab my iPad and start working on a puzzle (if you didn’t know, I’m 95 years old deep down and I LOVE jigsaw puzzles. I have a Jigsaw puzzle app on my iPad and am obsessed).

10:17pm: Charlie gets home and I promptly fall asleep.

THE END

Question of the Day

What is one cool or unique thing that happened on Monday?

Day in the Life: Weekend Edition!

I love doing Day in the Life posts, but thought it would be fun to do a weekend Day in the Life post this time. My weekdays are usually pretty similar, but weekends are kind of up in the air most of the time.

I am nosy and love to see what other people do with their day, so here’s your chance to see mine! 😀  (all times are approximate)

Saturday, January 10th

7:30am: Charlie’s alarm goes off and I lay in bed wondering “whyyyyy”. We both ignore it and go back to sleep

9:34am: I wake up and decide I’m ready to start the day. I quickly get up and start getting ready, only to find out that it’s raining. Whomp whomp. Our plans to go to Long Beach are squashed.

9:48am: I get Charlie out of bed and ask him to go to the gym with me. We decide to walk there with Oscar (it’s less than a mile away) and get a work out in while he chills in the office.

Morning walk with my boys.

10:15am: Charlie and I get our workout in. We do a full body lift, starting with Heavy Deadlifts (i did 210lbs for 3 reps!), Bulgarian Split Squats, Goblet Squats, and Seated Band Hip Abduction. We finish off with an upper body workout: Incline Press, One Arm Rows, and Hanging Leg Raises.

11:26am: Our legs feel like lead at this point as we start the trek home. We stop at a coffee shop on the way home so I can get my fix.

americano11:38am: We get home and put our feet up for a few minutes and chat about what we should do. We decide that food should be in our near future, so we hit the showers.

1:11pm: We head to Simply Salad (my favorite salad spot in Santa Monica) and sit outside so Oscar can hang with us. I get a build-your-own with romaine, spinach, celery, cucumbers, apples, tomatoes, bell peppers, chicken and feta cheese, and Charlie gets a Chicken Caesar. We try to think of activities that we can do with him since being outdoors isn’t really an option with the rain.

Simply Salad in Santa Monica =2:00pm: We get back home and try to figure out what the plan is. We look up some activities we can do with a dog and find an indoor dog park. We hang out at a home for a bit until we’re ready to go.

3:30pm: We head out to Culver City (where the indoor dog park, ZoomRoom, is) to find something to do before our appointment.

zoomroom4:15pm: We get to Culver City (traffic SUCKED) and end up stopping at Sprouts so I can get a Kombucha. We decide to just head to ZoomRoom early to see what it’s all about.

4:37pm: We get to ZoomRoom and Oscar starts getting super excited. They have agility equipment and another dog is playing, and all Oscar wants to do is jump in.

5:30pm: It’s Oscar’s turn finally! He is a total dork and not really into all the cool equipment. We get him to go up and down the A-Frame, and get him to jump over some hurdles. He wants NOTHING TO DO with the tunnel. We try to get him to run through, but he is NOT having it. I should have gotten pictures but I was busy jumping hurdles trying to get him to copy me. Haha! (P.S. It worked a few times…)

6:00pm: We head back to Santa Monica to grab dinner ingredients at the store and to kick back and watch a movie at home.

6:42pm: We start cooking dinner and pick a movie, Murder By Numbers. We sit down to watch and eat, and both fall asleep before the movie ends because we are that lame.

The End.

Question of the Day

1. What is your favorite Saturday night activity?

3 Things

The first week back to “real” life is almost complete! It definitely feels good to be back in the regularly swing of things. I love traveling and being spontaneous, but I also love my daily routine, too.

Just as quickly as I’ve gotten back into my routine, I’ll be getting right out of it next week with a quick trip to AZ. My NEW nephew was born last week, and I can’t wait to meet the little guy! Apparently Matty is taking a liking to his new baby brother. 🙂

  2. One Hour Photo
  3. Naked Gun

Food (Healthy)

  1. Grapes
  2. Chicken
  3. Almond Butter

Okay, YOUR turn….what are 3 random items YOU bring to a deserted island?

My Weekend {pictures} + Leg Workout w/ Plyometrics

Happy Monday peeps!

This weekend actually felt quite long (not that I’m complaining), so I feel good and refreshed coming into this week. Here’s some of the fun I had:

Saturday, I took a boxing class in the morning. It was quite the sweat session! There were 3 instructors bringing the pain for an hour. Even though it was tough, I had a blast. Can’t wait for tomorrow night’s class!

photo 1

After we showered up, I decided to get a my hair blown out before we headed to a music festival. It wasn’t a fancy festival or anything, but I just didn’t feel like doing my hair. -_-

Guys…I’m SUPER lazy with my hair. I either let it air dry or put it up in a top knot. I have SO much hair and it’s wavy/frizzy, so it can be a pain in the ass. stop-any-disease, once my hair was all done and pretty, and since I knew I’d actually be wearing NPC (normal-people-clothes) instead of gym clothes, I decided to do my makeup too! (Call it a national holiday! Alert the press!)

photo 2

We then headed out to the Eagle Rock Music Festival. It had promise, but ended up being somewhat of a fail. The vibe was really cool and very family-oriented, but the music was just meh. There were a LOT of DJ’s (not my thing…and I can’t understand what is entertaining about watching someone stand in one place pushing buttons on a laptop and turning discs….but I digress) and the only decent bands were playing in acoustically untreated buildings = muddy musical mess. We did see one latino band that was totally not my style of music, but TOTALLY GOOD. Had we known what the rest of our options were, we definitely would have stayed and watched them longer.

People standing around watching a DJ....I DON'T GET IT. WHAT IS THERE TO SEE?!

People standing around watching a DJ….I DON’T GET IT. WHAT IS THERE TO SEE?!

Sunday, we headed to the batting cages to hit some balls. As many of you know, I played on the guys’ baseball team growing up, so I love getting chances to play! Happy to know, I’ve still got it!

We watched a little bit of the Chiefs game, and then I headed to the sauna gym for a workout. We’re going through a major heatwave (…didn’t I move from AZ to get away from that?!), so the temps have been quite ridiculous. Like, 97 in Santa Monica ridiculous!

Leg Day Insanity

4 sets of

Superset #1: Barbell Squats at (95lbs x 15) w/ Medicine Ball Jump Squats (10lbs x 15)

3 sets of

Superset #2: Leg Extensions (50lbs x 15) w/ Supinated Hamstring Curls (50lbs x 15)

3 sets of

Superset #3: Barbell Walking Lunges (50lbs x 12 per leg) w/ Split Squat Jumps (bodyweight x 10 per side)

2 sets of

Superset #4: (1 leg at a time!!!) DB Step Up (20lbs x 10) w/ Step Up Jumps (bodyweight x 10)

I may or may not have walked out of the gym looking like I just jumped off a horse. As always, check with a doc before starting any new exercise routine. Use weights you’re comfortable with. I posted mine for reference, but you should do what is best for YOU.

Hope you guys have a great rest of your day! I’ll be back tomorrow with some more workouts for the week.

Be sure to check out my Ask Me Anything post and leave a comment with any questions you may have! I’ll be answering them all this week on the blog!

Question of the Day

1. What is the weather like in your part of the world? Still summer-like? Fall? Winter-y?

Workouts & New FitFluential Ambassador

Hey Friends!

Hope your week is going well! I’m just over here working away. I love my jobs and what I do, but sometimes I think I’m doing so much that I forget to stop and smell the roses. It’s something I need to work on. I try to be as efficient as possible, which means that stopping to chat with someone for 5 minutes can be a bother. I just need a little more “Wuuusaaaaa” in my life. I’m going to put in the effort!

I’m extremely excited to announce that I’m an official FitFluential Ambassador!!! I got accepted last week while I was at the airport, and basically jumped for joy in the security line. FitFluential is such an amazing company and I’m so glad I get to be a part of it. Stay tuned for some fun posts!

Here’s video of some of the exercises I did during my hotel workout this past weekend. Small gyms don’t scare me! You can always make something up, you just have to get creative sometimes. (And I’m always happy to help you get creative…just ask!)

P.S. You can find more of my videos on my Instagram: @fitlizzio

Workouts for the Week:

Sunday: Hotel Gym Workout

Monday: 20 min. HIIT on the Stairmill (Funny story, I went to set this up and instead of 20 minutes at level 11, I accidentally hit 11 minutes at level 20. It actually took me 5 minutes to realize my mistake. I thought I had gotten really out of shape miraculously and couldn’t figure out why it was so hard haha!)

Tuesday: CrossFit Workout + Boxing

Wednesday: Rest

Thursday: Legs + Boxing

Friday: Shoulders + Chest

Saturday: Back

I’m going to be in the studio a lot this weekend, which means I won’t really get a weekend. It’s all good, I’ll be doing fun things, but I definitely need to make sure I pay attention to getting enough rest. I am a much more functional and pleasant person to be around when that happens! (Trust me, Charlie can attest LOL)

Have a great rest of your day!

Questions of the Day:

1. Have you ever set up a machine wrong and started wondering if you had gotten completely out of shape or vice versa?

2. Do you stop to smell the roses? Or are you like me and could probably be much better about it?

Fitness Plan for the Week 2/17-2/23

Hope you’re all having a lovely morning! If you’re taking a break from work today, I hope you’re not reading this just yet and you’re out enjoying your day! If today is a work-day for you, sit, stay a while, plan your week out with me!!

As you all know, I love to take my Sunday nights to plan out my fitness for the week.

planning

There are a few reasons for this:

1. It lets me know how I need to plan my day (i.e. a Heavy Lift is going to take much longer than a WOD or HIIT)

2. It gives me a focus and gets me excited for the workouts! Mental preparation is important!

3. It gives me a chance to program for the week so that I can fit it all in!

With that said, I’m back into CrossFit this week (took a few weeks off) and I have a feeling I’ll be pretty sore by the end of the week!

Fitness Plan for the Week

Monday: 15 min. HIIT + Heavy Lift + Rock Climb (indoor)

Tuesday: 15 min. HIIT + Metabolic Workout

Wednesday: CrossFit + Rock Climb

Thursday: 15 min. HIIT + Heavy Lift

Friday: 15 min. HIIT + Climb

Saturday: OFF

Sunday: Hike

This is only tentative, and I definitely go by how I feel. If I’m super sore from CrossFit Wednesday, there’s a good chance my heavy lift will get moved to Friday. I listen to my body and there’s no use doing a workout just because it’s on the schedule if it doesn’t feel good.

Questions for the day:

What’s on your fitness plan this week? Try anything new this month?
