Day in the Life III

Happy Wednesday peeps!

I can’t believe it’s already Wednesday? When did that happen? Or the fact that it’s June??

Annnnyways, the days seem to be flying by and I realized I hadn’t done a Day in the Life post in a while.

I made notes in my phone all day Monday so I could share what a typical day looks like for me lately:

5:45am: Alarm goes off

IMG_8429

6:00am: Get out of bed, start the coffee, start getting ready.

6:34am: Gather my things and head to my personal training client’s house.

6:45am: I see this and can’t help but laugh. Someone really loves Jesus (not that there’s anything wrong with that, but the sticker overload cracked me up!)

IMG_8413

6:58am: Arrive at my client’s house and we go walk on the beach and do some exercises. The view is awesome!

IMG_8329

8:04am: Leave client’s house and head to the gym for a workout

8:16am: Arrive at the gym, set up my equipment and GO

9:01am: DONE, I grab a coffee and head home. (yup, that’s two coffees before 9am)

9:30am: Google Hangout meeting with my team

10:00am: Make some breakfast (I made a Chia Seed Protein Pancake and a banana) and start work, work, working away while I eat it.

protein pancake

11:45am: Quick Phone Meeting

12:06pm: I take Oscar to the park by my house for 15 minutes so he calms down.

12:24pm: I’m starving, so I run to Whole Foods on the way home to get in on some hot bar action. I get steamed kabocha squash, skirt steak, bell peppers, and a kombucha of course.

12:35pm: I head to the gym to work in the office. (sometimes I need to get OUT of the house to get work done and other times I need to be AT my house to get work done).

12:42pm: I get to the gym, open my laptop, and continue on with the work train. I brought Oscar with me today because I felt bad leaving him at home (dog mom guilt). He hangs out under the desk while I work.

IMG_8418

2:00pm: I take a break to train a client and take Oscar for a quick walk .

3:00pm: Back in the office and back to work. I send a bunch of emails, work on putting together a big project I’m working on, and update our social media page.

4:11pm: Oscar is tired of the gym, so back home we go to get more work done!

4:26pm: We arrive back at home, I open up my laptop again and….you guessed it…continue working! Someone is tired from the long work day and takes a nap behind me. πŸ™‚IMG_8420

5:40pm: I’m hungry. I send a few more e-mails and whip up a quick dinner of chicken with BBQ sauce, broiled green beans and ketchup, and another kombucha. #no-breastcancer

It's kombucha o'clock!! My favorite time of day.

6:18pm: I start writing this blog post, send a few more work emails, and turn on FBI Files (it’s on Netflix. If you like Forensic Files, you will like this).

fbifiles

7:33pm: I write another FitLizzio blog post, and finish up an article for another client.

8:15pm: I consider going to bed, but can’t seem to stop watching FBI Files, so I start browsing Facebook and mindlessly surf the interwebs.

9:45pm: I finally decide to get in bed. I grab my iPad and start working on a puzzle (if you didn’t know, I’m 95 years old deep down and I LOVE jigsaw puzzles. I have a Jigsaw puzzle app on my iPad and am obsessed).

10:17pm: Charlie gets home and I promptly fall asleep.

THE END

Question of the Day

What is one cool or unique thing that happened on Monday?

Day in the Life: Weekend Edition!

I love doing Day in the Life posts, but thought it would be fun to do a weekend Day in the Life post this time. My weekdays are usually pretty similar, but weekends are kind of up in the air most of the time.

I am nosy and love to see what other people do with their day, so here’s your chance to see mine! πŸ˜€Β  (all times are approximate)

Saturday, January 10th

7:30am: Charlie’s alarm goes off and I lay in bed wondering “whyyyyy”. We both ignore it and go back to sleep

9:34am: I wake up and decide I’m ready to start the day. I quickly get up and start getting ready, only to find out that it’s raining. Whomp whomp. Our plans to go to Long Beach are squashed.

9:48am: I get Charlie out of bed and ask him to go to the gym with me. We decide to walk there with Oscar (it’s less than a mile away) and get a work out in while he chills in the office.

Morning walk with my boys.

10:15am: Charlie and I get our workout in. We do a full body lift, starting with Heavy Deadlifts (i did 210lbs for 3 reps!), Bulgarian Split Squats, Goblet Squats, and Seated Band Hip Abduction. We finish off with an upper body workout: Incline Press, One Arm Rows, and Hanging Leg Raises.

11:26am: Our legs feel like lead at this point as we start the trek home. We stop at a coffee shop on the way home so I can get my fix.

americano11:38am: We get home and put our feet up for a few minutes and chat about what we should do. We decide that food should be in our near future, so we hit the showers.

1:11pm: We head to Simply Salad (my favorite salad spot in Santa Monica) and sit outside so Oscar can hang with us. I get a build-your-own with romaine, spinach, celery, cucumbers, apples, tomatoes, bell peppers, chicken and feta cheese, and Charlie gets a Chicken Caesar. We try to think of activities that we can do with him since being outdoors isn’t really an option with the rain.

Simply Salad in Santa Monica =2:00pm: We get back home and try to figure out what the plan is. We look up some activities we can do with a dog and find an indoor dog park. We hang out at a home for a bit until we’re ready to go.

3:30pm: We head out to Culver City (where the indoor dog park, ZoomRoom, is) to find something to do before our appointment.

zoomroom4:15pm: We get to Culver City (traffic SUCKED) and end up stopping at Sprouts so I can get a Kombucha. We decide to just head to ZoomRoom early to see what it’s all about.

4:37pm: We get to ZoomRoom and Oscar starts getting super excited. They have agility equipment and another dog is playing, and all Oscar wants to do is jump in.

5:30pm: It’s Oscar’s turn finally! He is a total dork and not really into all the cool equipment. We get him to go up and down the A-Frame, and get him to jump over some hurdles. He wants NOTHING TO DO with the tunnel. We try to get him to run through, but he is NOT having it. I should have gotten pictures but I was busy jumping hurdles trying to get him to copy me. Haha! (P.S. It worked a few times…)

6:00pm: We head back to Santa Monica to grab dinner ingredients at the store and to kick back and watch a movie at home.

6:42pm: We start cooking dinner and pick a movie, Murder By Numbers. We sit down to watch and eat, and both fall asleep before the movie ends because we are that lame.

The End.

Question of the Day

1. What is your favorite Saturday night activity?

A Day in the Life Part II

Here’s another edition of “A Day in the Life!” from yesterday!

6:30am: My alarm goes off. I purposefully set it extra early so that I can snooze a bit more.

clock7:30am: I finally decide it’s really time to get out of bed and get ready for the day. Charlie tells me that Oscar had to go out super early this morning and that he might not be feeling well. πŸ™

7:45am: I start getting ready for the day, which includes putting on my brand new @ReebokWomen gear! (note: SkyScapes are my new obsession)

reebokoutfit8:33am: Charlie and I head out to get our morning coffee at our local joint. The edmeds24 machine is broken and I have to get a regular coffee (the horror!).

8:45am: I get on the road to head to the Reebok FitHUB Studio City grand opening! (I’ll have a full post up next week about the event!)

9:12am: I pull over to do a conference call for work.

9:36am: I arrive at the Reebok FitHUB store and quietly find my yoga mat. Tara Stiles is teaching and Haylie Duff is hanging out, which is such a treat!

Thank you for a great yoga class at the BRAND NEW Reebok FitHUB Studio City!! The store is OFFICIALLY OPEN!!!Fantastic morning with some great ladies! Nice to meet you ! Thanks for this great event!10:30am: Yoga class finishes and I start taking photos, chatting with people, and then buy a pair of shoes (naturally).

11am: I leave the store and head back down to Santa Monica. Traffic sucks in a major way, so I take some side streets and make it down in about 30 minutes.

11:30am: I arrive home to a literal SHIT STORM. Poor pup. I call the vet to make an emergency appointment.

photo 5

11:36am: I sit down to do some work before the vet appointment and eat a snack of an apple, almond butter, and a protein shake (with pumpkin added…YUM).

applealmondutter12:47pm: Charlie gets home. We take Oscar out one last time and try to get a “sample” to bring to the vet. It’s a hilarious adventure and ultimately, we got something! {I know you wanted to know, that’s why I told you.}

1:37pm: We arrive at the vet, fill out paperwork, and are seen almost instantly. If only human doctor’s were this fast!

1:45pm: The vet sees us and checks Oscar out head to toe.

2:16pm: We head home with some meds for the pup. He seems like his goofy self, so hopefully it’s nothing serious.

photo 3

2:40pm: We stop at the Co-Op so Charlie can get a smoothie and I can get some chicken. As soon as we get back to the car, we realize Oscar needs to go outside. (Yes, we found out the hard way).

2:52pm: We get home, Charlie heads back to work, and I work from home for a few hours. I make some chicken and sweet potatoes to eat for what I guess I’ll call lunch.

5:07pm: I head to the gym to take a boxing class. I’m tired, but I know I’ll feel better once I’m done.

6:41pm: I leave the gym a sweaty mess and feel good. I head to the grocery store to get dinner supplies: ground beef, avocado, and some chips and salsa for Charlie

7:50pm: Charlie gets home. He cooks dinner while I shower, and eventually we devour the food. SO GOOD. I had a bunless burger with avocado and a slice of cheddar cheese. It was delicious.

8:25pm: Now…I’m writing this post and we’re on the couch cuddling with our love bug who is exhausted.

Questions of the Day

1. Do you own a pet? What do you do when he/she’s sick? I feel so helpless when Oscar doesn’t feel good. :-/

2. Am I the only weirdo that sets my alarm a full hour before I need to get up?

Day in the Life…

I always love Day in the Life posts, so I thought it’d be fun to do one myself! Here goes….

Tuesday, October 14th

7:15am: Charlie’s alarm goes off….I open my eyes and promptly close them again.

7:30am: OK, OK, Time to gay-sauna-nice get up.

8:30am: Send off blog post to get proofed

8:45am: Eat an apple and get on a phone call w/ a co-worker to talk about a project

9am: Google Hangout Meeting with the boss man…we have a bad connection and it’s super duper annoying

9:20am: My brother calls me and we catch up…he updates me on my mom and we laugh about our crazy, awesome dentist

9:25am: Write a reminder that I need to go to the dentist

9:30am: See a sale on flights, start perusing flights and dates to go see family for either Thanksgiving or some other reason…

9:35am: Do 10 Squat Jumps for no reason at all other than I’m trying to decide if I want to work out before I tackle my work day

9:45am: Clearly I wasn’t ready. I start checking/responding to e-mails and doing social media work.

10:15am: OK, I’m ready to move. Even though I haven’t run in over 6 months, I decide to go for a run…and simultaneously question who I am today

runtime

10:50am: Finished with run, come back inside and take a shower.

11:15am: Grab a 2nd coffee and head to a meeting

12pm: Stop at FedEx to ask printing questions for a job that needs to be doneΒ as soon as the file is received

12:15pm: Walk around Santa Monica with a co-worker while we wait for said file to be sent. It’s a gorgeous day!

smbeach

12:45pm: File still hasn’t arrived, so I stop into Simply Salad and get a make-your-own salad. It has Romaine Lettuce, celery, cucumbers, red bell peppers, tomatoes, granny smith apples, feta cheese, double chicken, and balsamic vinegar on the side. I don’t get to eat it right away, so I take it to go.

monstersalad1

1:30pm: Back at FedEx; Wait for document to print (it’s a big job)

2:30pm: Meet w/ co-workers to go over document and have one final look before sending off

3:30pm: Head to the gym to sign some documents, catch up with co-workers there, and do a bunch of admin stuff. I eat a Justin’s Honey Peanut Butter pouch because I’m STARVING

justinspb

4pm: Head home and tackle more e-mails + edit another document for work

4:15pm: Finally eat my salad!!!

monstersalad2

4:30pm: I’m totally full. That was a monstrous salad. I read blogs, peruse Facebook, text & catch up with CW

4:45pm: Sit down to write this blog post

I plan on heading to boxing at 6:45 tonight, doing a bit more work, and then going to SLEEP. It was nice to have a lighter day today…it doesn’t happen very often!

Hope you enjoyed my day in the life post! It was fun to document my day like that. I’ll have to do it more often. πŸ™‚

Question of the Day:Β

1. Are you a runner or a weights person?

I’m most definitely a weights person, but a good run definitely has some mind-clearing capabilities that cannot be matched with anything else!

The LA Way

Don’t forget to enter the sunglasses giveaway!! You have until tomorrow to enter!

I always love reading other people’s “Day in the Life” posts, so I thought I’d do my own.

20130613-000429.jpg

My life is busy. I have 2-3 jobs, a workout schedule, and a boyfriend. I try to have a social life too, but lately it’s mostly in the form of workout dates.

So you may be wondering why I have multiple jobs and what I do. To answer the first question, the simple answer is: I like it that way. I get bored easily, don't like to do the same thing for too long, and need to keep my mind overstimulated. It is what suits me best and there will likely never be a time when I have only one job. It's not for me to do the 40 hr work week with the same schedule day in and day out. Instead, I work all day (but doing it on my own schedule)! πŸ™‚

Job 1: I’ve worked for Iron Gym for two years. I started out as a front desk gal when I moved to LA, but after about a year, took on a bigger role. I don’t know my title, as I’m somewhat of a utility there, but in short, I am the front desk manager, client account manager, customer service rep, and everything in between. I work when I want to, so long as my tasks are done in a timely fashion.

Job 2: I am the office manager and personal/family assistant to a celebrity. (Sorry, can’t say who for privacy purposes.) It is an extremely demanding and time consuming job, but I get to go to work in workout clothes and somewhat have my own schedule there (although I’m the typical LA assistant with a blackberry, iPhone, and iPad on me at all times. No, I’m not exaggerating.) I love it, love the family, and love the fast pace.

20130612-235953.jpg

Job 3: I am launching my own business soon. Details will be revealed once my website is up. That should be by the end of the weekend!

On to my day!

8:30am: I roll out of bed, brush my teeth, throw on my workout clothes, blend a green smoothie and head to the gym to get a little bit of work done.

10:30am: I take a break from e-mails and get a 30 minute cardio session or a weights session in (depending on the day and how/what I’m feeling like)

11:15am: Get a bit more work done at the gym, head home to shower and eat a protein bar, and head out to job #2

12:30pm: LUNCHHHH

1pm-5pm: Work away at my 2nd job. This includes but is not limited to scheduling, ordering needed items, researching items for my boss, arranging airfare, etc. Every day is different. πŸ™‚

5:30pm: Head back to the gym. I usually do a second workout that is entirely different from what I did in the morning. It ranges from weight training to plyometrics to steady cardio and even to my beloved Hip Hop Dance class.

7pm: Head upstairs to the gym office and do some more work. I stuff Quest Peanut Butter Cups down until I can make dinner.

10 or 11pm: I call it quittin’ time! I usually make dinner for myself or with my boyfriend. We tend to go for chicken, bell peppers, onions, and some brown rice or black beans. Our go to meal that never fails.

In between all of this, I am working on my personal business and working part time as an assistant to another executive. I don’t ever stop during the day, but I guess that’s what I like. I am happy at my jobs and wouldn’t trade them in for anything. The only thing I really need to work on is getting more SLEEP!!!

Well, there you have it. The LA way of life…

  • What do you prefer when it comes to work? Are you a freelancer? Do you work a normal 9-5, 40 hr/week job?
  • What is your dream job?
