Question and comment

As i perused(sp?) the grocery store after my workout this morning, I walked over to the produce section. I headed to where all of the potatoes are and I found myself wondering two things:

1) What is the difference (healthwise) between a sweet potato and a yam? And honestly, which is which???? The orange is sweet potato and the yellow is a yam or is it the other way around?!

2) Why is a sweet potato superior and more accepted as part of a diet than regular potato? It is something I should know, but I don’t. I know that regular potato’s are a starch and yada yada, but what makes sweet potato’s so different as far as health??

I would love to know the answers so speak up!!!

Comment: Don’t put your glutamine in your oatmeal because YOU CAN TASTE IT. blechh.

Sweet Potato for breakfast

WOO its early! I loved that boxing class I took on Tuesday so much that I decided to wake up early again to go. It will be worth it 🙂

Breakfast this morning was untraditional, but then again so am I.

I had the normal egg whites, and 1/4 cup of oatmeal, along with two baby oranges.

I was still hungry and that left me under 300 calories and I know I need more than that to get through my workout.

I am out of egg whites, and fruit, so I was trying to think of what I could have for about another 100 or so calories.

The obvious choice was SWEET POTATO. Haha i am obsessed with these things lately and they do very well at holding me over, so I had that.

Now i am getting ready for the gym. I am feeling DOMS like crazy!! That boxing class mixed with my training has made me completely sore from head to toe. My back, my arms, my butt, you name it. I love it though! Yesterday Dae had me do back and triceps and I have to say I love the untraditional mixes of muscle groups. It is my new obsession. Shoulders and biceps being my favorite, back and triceps was pretty cool too. I just feel like it gives me a totally different workout when I do it that way since I am so used to the normal back/biceps, chest triceps yada yada.

I thought yesterday, what would my boss say if I called him and told him I wasn’t coming in to work because I had DOMS hahaha. Not that I would do that, but it crossed my mind. Of course he would have no idea what it was and probably think it was some horrible syndrome or virus, but I would get a laugh.

Anyways, I am completely rambling, probably because its 5:45 and i have already been up for an hour. I love my time in the morning. I love sitting down to breakfast and enjoying my food, reading blogs, fishing around on the internet. It is my only time of the day where I feel relaxed and not in a rush, so I make sure to wake up early enough so that I can have that time. ME time is important!

Tuesday i ended up at about 2500 calories (very high but i coudln’t get enough food that day!!) but i guess it balances out because yesterady I barely got down 1500 calories. My body is learning to balance itself and I love it 🙂

Okay im off to the gym, then i need to go to the grocery store and fill up on basics, then eat lunch and off to school until 9pm. Longggg day. Hope you all have a good one!

new love!

Okay so for whatever reason today i woke up at 4am and was up and ready to go haha. So i headed to the gym at about 530am(crazyyness) and i did legs..focusing on glutes. Lots of squats, lunges, ham curls, leg press. Then i needed to do cardio but didn’t feel like getting on a machine. There happened to be a boxing class starting at 630am,perfect timing and i love me some boxing. This class was AWESOME. It wasn’t like a cardio kickboxing class where you just do the moves. Our instructor padded up and we were beating on him! It was so much fun and SUCH a great work out. My arms are completely DEAD right now. They were shaking from it. I love it and i have been told I hit pretty hard and although im not an angry person, it gets the stress out! I am going to try to go to this class every Tuesday and THursday.

Why I had so much energy this morning, i have NO idea, because after that class I did 25 minutes on the stair stepper and 20 minutes on the arc trainer. I decided i need to GO HOME. haha.

Breakfast was good. 1 cup of egg whites with green pepper, onions, red pepper. A bowl of proatmeal and an apple and grapefruit.

I had a protein shake after my workout and I am going to eat some chicken and sweet potato and green beans shortly!

I have a full day of school ahead of me (1pm-840pm) I don’t know how i am going to make it through the end of today given the fact that I woke up so early. I am sure I will sleep well tonight.

……..Only to be awoken by my alarm clock at 6am to go train with Dae tomorrow.

I need more than 24 hours in a day. Can someone work on that? 🙂

Presidents day

So glad i didn’t have to work today. 🙂 Yesterday was a REST day and i fully rested.

Today, i met with Dae at 8am and he absolutely annihilated me. Over 200 pushups and 180 hanging leg raises……and that was what i had to do AFTER he got done training me.

Let me tell you, my ass got kicked today. Harder than maybe ever.

I feel good and i have been eating well.

I found a solution to the apple problem…DOn’t buy 20 at a time 🙂 HA

my aunt gave me some oranges and grapefruits off of her tree yesterday so I am having those and some frozen strawberries for my fruit for a few days. Apples will still be a part of my diet but 2 days wihtout them might do me some good…a little “detox” so that i don’t scarf them down like they are going out of style.

My calories today ended at 1725. 169 grams of protein and 246 g. of carbs. Need to up my fat intake a little bit because i ended up at 12 grams. I need a littttle bit more than that.

Either way i ate great today and im happy abou tit!

Operation Less Apples Day 1

Haha i feel like such a dork trying to cut down on apples. I know it isn’t a terrible problem and it is actually more-so a good problem, but i am trying to fine-tune my diet. I cut out all the crap and haven’t eaten crap in over 6 weeks, so it is time for Phase 2…Fine tuning!!

I am going to keep myself accountable on here! I might even try to find a counter that i can add to my page hehe.

Anyways, i did some empty stomach morning cardio today for the first time in ages. I kinda like it, i kinda don’t, but it is something i may do every now and then. I just did 20 minutes at 15% incline 3.2 mph.

I got home and had 1/4 cup of oats with cinnamon, 1 cup egg whites with onions, green peppers, red pepper flakes, and regular pepper. (lots of peppers lol) By the way this gives the egg whites SO much flavor, i highly reccomend it. And had ONE apple with this.

Apple count for the day: 1

More later! Off to go to some strength training.

Positive+Negative=Neutral????

Okay so a few things floating around in my head. I will start with the positive.

Positive: The mirrors in my bathroom at my apartment are ULTRA umm sensitive? showy? THEY SHOW EVERY DAMN LINE AND BUMP YOU COULD POSSIBLY FIND. That’s what i was getting at. Anyways…when i was still battling my eating habits when i first moved in and up until about December, i was horrified at the sight of my umm saddle bag area shall we? It just grossed me out…because i KNEW that it wasn’t like that before i started my little binge fest that lasted all too many months. I could just see a lot more cellulite then i ever wanted to. WELL, i am happy to report that lately..and tonight i checked very well….the cellulite has almost DISAPPEARED..like it is seriously not really there anymore. I couldn’t believe it. THAT was my proof that this is REALLY paying off. SCREW the scale…SCREW my body fat percentage…in the end…i KNOW i am looking leaner, and i KNOW that my leg/butt area is looking SERIOUSLY BETTER. I am so excited.

OKAY…so here is the not-so-negative-more-like-a-question

This question is regarding FRUIT.

Okay I know everyone says “hey at least its fruit and not cookies” I even say that to myself….BUT…lately, i feel like it is seriously getting out of control.

I am eating like 10-11 apples A DAY. That is a ton of sugar and i know it is natural sugar, but still. I need to trade half of those in for more veggies or more complex carbs. This is going to be very difficult for me because i have recently become so used to my eating style….which has been only clean foods and im actually starting to love and prefer it. It’s awesome. I don’t want to eat anything other then clean foods that make me feel good. 🙂

But anyways, what are your thoughts on my ridiculous apple eating…I know it is a better alternative to cake, cookies, etc….but it isn’t ideal and i am trying to find ways to minimize the fruit intake. I of course want to keep eating fruits, just not as much…suggestions?!

My goal is to FAIL!

I am sure your thinking..what?? your giving up???

NOOO…i mean to work my ass off until my muscles FAIL. That is my new goal for all of my strength workouts. If its shoulder day..i want to walk out of there not being able to lift my own hands over my head because all my delts have gone to FAILURE and they just can’t take it anymore.

Just thought i’d spike your interest with that heading 🙂

ALSO..does anyone know how to add videos to a blog post? When i try to embed them from youtube it doesn’t let me…so if any of you bloggers out there know how to do this let me know!

EDIT: I just made a protein shake with 1 scoop of Isopure zero carb strawberries and cream and 4 oz. of water and 2 real strawberries….TASTES LIKE THE MOST AMAZING SMOOTHIE OF LIFE….best protein shake ever. im in love

oh america

at the gym today i saw a commercial on tv for some fiber pill. In the commercial, the woman has a handful of beautiful fruits and vegetables…she closes her hand and opens it again and it is 2 fiber pills. Ummmm does anyone else get annoyed by this??? We are now trading in fruits and vegetables for pills?!?!?!? Yuck. sometimes this country scares me.

Anyways…sorry for no post yesterday…eats were great! Ended up at 1847 calories for the day and my workout was triceps (my trainer absolutely killed me..to the point where he had to pick me up out of a dip because i could NOT get up hahah it was pretty funny) and then incline walking at 15% 3.6 mph…woosh! hard stuff let me tell ya. Did that for 35 minutes and then ran up and down the stairs for another like 8 minutes because i had to leave and meet a computer guy to fix my laptop.

Today i did shoulders and biceps…that is my new favorite combo! i get such a good burn doing supersets with those two muscle groups. Then i did more incline walking and some elliptical..with about a 10 minute run to cool down. 55 minutes total…(why i didn’t finish that last 5 minutes i am not sure..i asked myself the whole way home lol)

Anyways..im enjoying my chicken, sweet potato and green beans right now and then off to class until 9pm!

My new Isopure zero carb Strawberries and cream protein powder showed up today and i can’t wait to try it!

Progress? Pics

Okay finally did the progress pictures. I honestly don’t know that I see any progress and possibly look worse? I didnt lose any body fat, and it is TTOM sooo I am hoping that is making me bloated and I am going to re-do my body fat when she leaves, as well as take new pictures. Let me know if you see anything that I am missing! I feel like I look pretty much the same though haha. Actually I take that back..my arms look better in the second picture! But my abs look better in the first :-/….Legs look kinda the same…so i am guessing that i just have some bloat in my abs because i typically don’t gain weight in my abs..usually its my legs.
